Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. This was a natural trait for an Irish-born child surrounded by talented parents and a loving family. Maureen came to this loving refuge on the 17th of August 1920. Her family was her parents and family members. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a skilled contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen did well in sports and was a lover of rough play. She combined this interest with an equally natural talent to perform. She won almost every Feis Award for Theater and Drama the country could offer. At age 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
